Archive for the ‘Causes of Anxiety Attacks’ Category
There is no one cause for anxiety attacks since there are so many factors that could be included. Scientists have been working hard on trying to find out the causes of anxiety and they broke it down into 3 groups which include chemical imbalance in the brain, family genetics and fight / fear instinct.
Chemical Imbalance in the Brain
The chemical messenger in the brain that controls a persons thoughts and feelings are called neurotransmitters. Chemical imbalance in the brain can cause a person to feel anxious, or depressed. Serotonin and dopamine are two of the main types of neurotransmitters that effect a persons mood and feelings.
Family Genetics
If a family member such as a parent or close relative has an anxiety disorder there is a much higher chance of a person developing anxiety. Living and growing up in a family where anxiety attacks and disorders are present can cause a person growing up in that situation to get anxious easily. As stated above if a family member has a chemical imbalance it can be passed along genetically.
Fight and Natural Instinct
A persons natural instinct when put in a stressful situation can cause their heart rate to increase, dilate the eyes and cause a person to feel anxious. The Amygdala is a part of the brain that triggers when a person is in a stressful situation that can cause anxiety attacks.
