Meditation can be one of the best activities you can do for yourself when dealing with anxiety. Life’s stressors that pile up can lead to an anxiety attack at any moment. A study at the University of Arizona recently stated that sixty percent of the population suffers from some form of anxiety.

Medications, drugs, and therapies are some options people seek for help. There are more natural ways to deal with anxiety attack symptoms and disorders such as meditation.

What Is Meditation?

Meditation is one of the most relaxing activities you can do to put your mind and body at is ease and be in the moment. It helps rejuvenate your mind, body and soul. Meditation involves breathing exercises that help flush out the toxins from the body.

How Meditation Helps People who Suffer with Anxiety Attack Symptoms

From the beginning of time people have been practicing meditation for several reasons including riding anxiety attack symptoms. Meditation diminishes bad thoughts and helps people heal from anxiety attack symptoms. Overall a person who habitually performs meditative acts will be a better rounded person.

When a person’s body is relaxed in the meditated state they will feel less stressed, tense, and their mind is at ease. The process of meditation is done in a quiet area either with a group or alone. The goal is to become conscious of yourself and realize that the mind, body and soul are connected. The person tends to recognize that they are in control and gives the person a chance to take a break during their busy day and rids certain stressors.

A person who has chronic anxiety attack symptoms should seek help from a professional or from themselves. There are many self-help strategies a person can do in order to feel in control. If self-help has not worked than a person should seek some form of additional therapy. If a person chooses self-help or therapy a person should seek a tremendous amount of relief.

Self-help techniques for anxiety attack symptoms include:

Turning your worry and anxiety into something productive. In order to do this a person must challenge the constant feeling of irrationality and learn how to postpone the anxiety. Perhaps a person could clean, or write what they are feeling, make music, draw etc.

Develop relaxation techniques. Deep breathing, muscle tightening and loosening, meditation. When a person tries to relax the nervous system will produce fewer symptoms and become less reactive and a person will be less susceptible to anxiety and stress.

Rid habits and susceptibility to anxiety. Riding habits such as drug intake, caffeine, and unhealthy food decisions may help a person’s risk and vulnerability to anxiety attack symptoms.

These are some of the natural remedies that are being explored for anxiety.

Passionflower-The herb passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) was used as a folk remedy for anxiety and insomnia.

Bodywork- Massage therapy, shiatsu, and other forms of bodywork are widely used to diminish muscle tension, relieve stress, and improve sleep.

Kava- Native to Polynesia, the herb kava (Piper methysticum) has been found to have anti-anxiety effects in humans.

Gamma-aminobutyric Acid (GABA) -GABA is an amino acid that is known to act in the physiology of anxiety. Some prescription drugs for anxiety work by affecting GABA receptors in the brain. The degree to which orally ingested GABA supplements can reach the brain, however, is unknown.

There is no one cause for anxiety attacks since there are so many factors that could be included. Scientists have been working hard on trying to find out the causes of anxiety and they broke it down into 3 groups which include chemical imbalance in the brain, family genetics and fight / fear instinct.

Chemical Imbalance in the Brain
The chemical messenger in the brain that controls a persons thoughts and feelings are called neurotransmitters. Chemical imbalance in the brain can cause a person to feel anxious, or depressed. Serotonin and dopamine are two of the main types of neurotransmitters that effect a persons mood and feelings.

Family Genetics
If a family member such as a parent or close relative has an anxiety disorder there is a much higher chance of a person developing anxiety. Living and growing up in a family where anxiety attacks and disorders are present can cause a person growing up in that situation to get anxious easily. As stated above if a family member has a chemical imbalance it can be passed along genetically.

Fight and Natural Instinct
A persons natural instinct when put in a stressful situation can cause their heart rate to increase, dilate the eyes and cause a person to feel anxious. The Amygdala is a part of the brain that triggers when a person is in a stressful situation that can cause anxiety attacks.

Causes of Anxiety Attacks:
There are several things that can cause anxiety attacks to occur throughout the day, these include the follow:

- Stressful Events throughout the day(such as death, accident, trauma)
- C affine, Alcohol, Nicotine
- Drug Withdrawl

There are many symptoms of an anxiety attack. Each individual person has their own personal genetic makeup; therefore the type, amount, and occurrence of anxiety attacks and symptoms will vary. One person may experience anxiety at higher level than someone else with less severe anxiety symptoms. Each person’s anxiety attack symptoms may differ from another person, but regardless the difference anxiety symptom sufferers have one major symptom: Fear.

Below is a list of the anxiety attack symptoms a person could experience. If you or someone you know experiences four or fewer anxiety attack symptoms than this would be classified as a limited symptom anxiety attack.

Anxiety Attack Symptoms:

· Rapid heart beat, pounding heart or palpitations(may feel like heart attack)

·  Sweating

·  Shaking visibly or inside

· Choking sensations or lump in throat

· Smothering or shortness of breath sensations

·  Chest pain or discomfort

· Nausea, bloating, indigestion or abdominal discomfort

·  Dizziness or unsteadiness

·  Feeling light-headed

· Hallucinations (feeling unreal or dreamy)

· Outer body experience (feeling outside yourself or like you don’t exist)

·  Fear of losing control

· Paresthesias (numbness or tingling sensations) in face, extremities or body

·  Chills or hot flushes

·  Skin losing color

·  Blushing or skin blotches

· Urgently needing to urinate or defecate

·  Inappropriate/Disturbed thoughts

· Muscle pain, especially in neck or shoulders

* Tremors and twitches
* Muscle tension
* Headaches
* Fatigue
* Insomnia

Anxiety attack symptoms tend to impact a person’s day to day life severely. If you are feeling several of the anxiety attack symptoms daily you may be suffering from generalized anxiety disorder or GAD. People who demonstrate multiple anxiety attack symptoms tend to be high stress, worried, anxious, and have a look of fear in their eyes. Such symptoms such as insomnia, upset stomach, fatigue, sweaty palms are some of the many anxiety symptoms related to GAD.
